Voluntary Programme: Understanding Valencian Society
What is the School for Newcomers?
This is a Voluntary Programme for individuals who wish to learn about Valencian Society, helping to ensure that new citizens understand the values and norms of democratic harmony, their rights and duties as new citizens, as well as the political structure and official languages of the Valencian Region.
How is it regulated?
The School for Newcomers is regulated by Law 15/2008 pertaining to Immigrant Integration in the Valencian Region.
What are its aims?
To provide new citizens of the Valencian Region with general knowledge of Spanish society and more specifically, knowledge of Valencian society.
To provide new citizens with the autonomy they need to fully exercise their rights and duties as citizens.
Who is this programme for?
This programme is geared to all new citizens aged 18 or older who are residents of the Valencian Region.
What will participants learn?
The syllabus is divided into four areas:
BLOCK I - SPANISH LANGUAGE AND VALENCIAN LANGUAGE:
BLOCK II - BASIC LEGISLATION:
The Spanish Constitution, the Statute of Autonomy, Law on Integration, Law on Participation, Organic Law on Rights and Freedoms of Foreigners residing in Spain and their Social Integration.
BLOCK III - GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY OF SPAIN AND THE VALENCIAN REGION
BLOCK IV - PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
Immigration, Employment, Housing, Healthcare...
How long is the course?
The total duration of the course is 40 hours.
